GRAPEVINE

YOUR LOCAL GAY ZINE

ABOUT US

Grapevine uplifts the queer community through creative storytelling.

In the queer DJ and club scene of the 80s and 90s, playing Marvin Gaye's cover of "Heard it Through the Grapevine" was a sign of a safe space for queer expression.

Grapevine aims to showcase the diverse talent and perspectives of the queer community. Queerness isn't a trend or choice—it's a way of life that deserves celebration. So, if you heard it through the grapevine . . . you’re safe with us.

I’m a student at Fordham University in NYC majoring in Communication & Culture, but I’m proud to call Cleveland my hometown! I’ve worked in the music industry in various capacities (publicity, venue operations, A&R) and hope to keep doing so after graduation. MUSIC WRITER

Hi! My name is Sierra, and I’m a historian based in Cleveland. I have a Bachelors of Arts in History and a minor in Anthropology from Cleveland State University. Music has always been a special interest of mine, mixing with my love of history as a child. Growing up, I had incredible history teachers that inspired my love of the subject. Through college, I studied public history, hoping to build a career where I can spread my love of history to others. So, through this zine, I will share stories about music history throughout the decades: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Hopefully, you too can connect with history through these stories and relate to the people of the past.

MULTI-DISCIPLINARY ARTIST

I’m a multi-disciplinary creative with a B.A. in Communication & Digital Content Production. I’ve worked in the music industry since college and have no plans to ever leave, doing everything from writing and photography to collages and video content. I like to say that I’m helping people make memories through music, and that’s what I bring to all my work. Outside of my jobs and Grapevine, I spend all my free time making lesbian collages out of old magazines, books, and more. You can find some of my work in past issues of Grapevine!

PROOFREADER / EDITOR / ARTIST

Multimedia artist born and raised on Prince Edward Island, Canada. In 2020, I moved to New York. After leaving my job in Manhattan at The Museum of Modern Art, I came to Cleveland in October of 2023. I specialize in hand sewn puppets, crochet & fiber arts, and acrylic painting, with a hint of poetry, photography, print making and proofreading (where Grapevine comes in!). I would call myself a general 'jack of all trades, master of none' when it comes to art.
